The founder share class has been launched with an annual management fee of 0.50%, a discount to the institutional and retail share classes of 0.60% and 0.80% respectively. This share class will remain available for the first year, or until fund assets under management exceed $60 million.
The fund mirrors Ptarmigan Capital’s equity investment philosophy of adding value through conviction by investing in approximately 25 single-line equities, selected through a rigorous bottom-up process honed over the investment careers of the managers.
The managers do not claim to predict the future. Instead, each holding is allocated to one of four style categories, each designed to benefit from different economic environments. By maintaining between 20% and 30% of the fund in each style category, the portfolio seeks to achieve meaningful diversification while remaining highly concentrated. This disciplined approach underpins a high-conviction global equity portfolio that is designed to deliver robust performance across a variety of economic backdrops.
The fund is aimed at investors seeking long-term capital growth and income through direct equities, but who wish to avoid the pitfalls of making large macroeconomic bets or excessive over-diversification.
The fund will be managed by Tommy Faber as Lead Fund Manager, with support, input and oversight from Charles Jones (CIO) and Ed Roe (Fund Manager).
Ptarmigan Capital was founded by Will Davies, Charles Jones and Douglas Barnett as an investment-led multi-family office specialising in high-conviction global equity portfolios. The launch of the fund marks an important step in making Ptarmigan Capital’s equity expertise more widely accessible.
Tommy Faber commented: “I’m thrilled to have joined Ptarmigan Capital to launch and manage the new concentrated global equity fund. In today’s markets, careful selection matters more than ever and I believe a high-conviction, active approach is the most effective way to create lasting value for clients. Ptarmigan’s combination of entrepreneurial spirit and disciplined investment culture makes it the perfect place to pursue this strategy and I’m excited to contribute to the firm’s reputation for thoughtful and differentiated investing.”
Will Davies commented: “The launch of the Ptarmigan fund is significant for two reasons: it reflects our philosophy of a clear, straightforward investment strategy, and it broadens access for clients who want to invest with what is now a formidable team. Tommy Faber is a fund manager of the highest calibre, and we are very fortunate to have him onboard.”
